The Balloon air method
This is how a balloon can be used with a DTR bell or Retainer
I am Re-posting this page as a reference for anyone that is interested in using the balloon method. I personally did not like using the balloon method as I found it less effective than direct Air. This method was posted on my old site many years ago.
In this page I will be using the retainer with a balloon.
If you have the AIR tube all you need is some balloons and an O-ring.
Cheap easily to get balloons such as water balloons can be used.
I inserted the AIR tube as if i was going to use direct air.
First I insert the tube into the end of the balloon
The O-ring is ( 1/4 inch OD 3/8 inch ID x 1/16th )
I just slide the O-ring onto the balloon
The O-ring will fit snug onto the Air tube insert.
Now I just slide the tube back into the retainer or DTR bell and its ready to use.
After I attach the Retainer with the balloon deflated I will use a wrap to keep the skin from outward expansion.
I am basically doing the same procedure I would use if I were using Direct Air.
I find using a wrap to be the best way to prevent the skin from unwanted outward expansion.
Without the wrap the skin can expand as shown here.
I am not sure if this outward expansion would have a lasting negative effect on the overall outcome since I did not test this method without the wrap for very long.
I liked using direct Air much better than trying to use a balloon. I found the two methods to be completely different on how it stresses the skin. I found the balloon to be less effective as direct Air but others may have a different experience with it and its why I am re-posting this information.
