Cleaning :
Normally I just wash my DTR with soap and water when finished using it for the day. No other cleaning is required, Just remember when cleaning don't use anything that would harm your skin, like bleach and strong cleaning chemicals. This would be overkill anyway and not necessary to maintain the DTR. F.R.E.D ( For Researching Experimental Durability ) Now to satisfy my own experimental need in pushing things to there limits. I am going to start to experiment on a "Crash test DTR" that I have named Fred. First Fred has proven to be dishwasher safe! This was useful after I ran him over with my SUV. I have also boiled Fred for a few minutes to see if it effected the nylon and I am happy to say it did no damage ( Do not boil the silicon grippers since they will melt ). In fact there is no need to boil a DTR I just did this for testing purposes. So just what is the DTR made off ...Nylon 101 of all the unmodified nylons it is the strongest most rigid nylon and has one of the highest melting points. Commonly specified for screw machined electrical insulators and food contact parts. Dairy compliant and meets FDA standards. When deciding what to make the DTR out of I used a few materials in the beginning. The best material ended up being Quadrant Engineering products Nylon 101. This stuff is strong ,light ,safe and cleans up easy plus you can go threw airport metal detectors with no problems! |
